Module 3 part 2: Atoms and Molecules

Fun Stuff:

Another computer game for the periodic table

Assignments:

Read Module 3 if you haven't done so already. If you are listening to it on Audible, the module starts at about 2:37. Watch the Khan videos.

Labs:

Ionic and Covalent Bonds Lab with salt and sugar

For Everybody:

Nova-Hunting for the Elements Kick off this week by watching this video together. Very Engaging. Chapter 9, Elemental Earth after the Gatorade part, is all about evolution. Skipping this section is recommended. You can find out what chapter you are on by putting your cursor on the bottom of the screen.

Resources to go along with  Hunting for the Elements

Chem4Kids atoms - material to read with an online quiz. Upper elementary and above. This unit covers material in the atom section and the element section.

Resources:

The photographic periodic table- very cool. Photographs and information on all of the elements

Module 3: Atoms and Molecules

I know module 3 comes after module 2, and we haven't done module 2, but how can you understand heat and energy if you don't understand atomic structure. So as the teacher, I'm taking my prerogative to switch the order of things.

Assignments:

Watch the videos from Khan Academy. If you have time, read the book and watch the videos on drawing the Bohr model and Lewis dot diagrams.
